Op dit moment worden veel van dit soort taken nog door mensen uitgevoerd. CNC-machines, zoals freesbanken en draaibanken, worden veelal nog bediend door operators. Zij onderhouden de machines en plaatsten de onbewerkte onderdelen en halen de bewerkte onderdelen er weer uit. Omdat het steeds moeilijker wordt om hier geschikte werknemers voor te vinden, is deze taak perfect te automatiseren met een cobot. Dankzij communicatie tussen de robot en de machine weet de robot wanneer die moet laden en ontladen. Een operator laadt onderdelen in een machine. De machine doet zijn werk, waarna de arbeider het afgewerkte product verwijdert en een nieuw onderdeel plaatst.
